80. Learning from Senator Tina Maharath's COVID-19 Experience

Dan talks for the second time with Ohio State Senator Tina Maharath. Serving District 3, in Franklin County, Maharath is the top Democrat on Financial Institutions & Technology and the Local Government & Elections committees. She is also the first Asian-American woman elected to the Ohio Senate.

After attending the funeral of a close relative who died from a non-COVID illness, 33 of her family members tested positive for COVID. Through this outbreak, Maharath lost four family members and then contracted COVID a second time in November. In their conversation, Senator Maharath and Dan discuss the senator’s personal experience with COVID, mask mandates, racism as a public health crisis, cultural competency for health care professionals, and more. Read more about Senator Maharath’s recent legislative work here, follow her on TwitterInstagram, and visit her website.
