Ep. 65 — Health & Justice: Sheryl Munson for Judge in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas
On this week’s episode of Prognosis Ohio, we continue our 2020 candidate spotlight by talking with Sheryl Munson—a public defender of 26 years and supporter of restorative justice— about her candidacy for judge in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas against the current incumbent and former prosecutor, Judge Gina Russo.
As a public defender, Munson believes that she can be a force for Franklin County by using the ideals of restorative justice to better serve our community at large. If elected, she would be the only public defender on the bench, which Munson believes would bring a much-needed perspective to the Court. Her approach puts social justice and criminal justice on parallel tracks so that defendants who are addicts or are otherwise underprivileged can have the opportunities and resources they need to reform and seek treatment.
