82. Talking Ohio Budget and Doula Care with Children's Defense Fund

Dan talks with Dr. Tracy Nájera and Kelly Vyzral from the Children’s Defense Fund of Ohio (CDF), an organization that champions policies and programs that lift children out of poverty, protect them from abuse and neglect, and ensures kids’ access to appropriate and targeted health care, quality education, and a moral and spiritual foundation. Tracy is the Executive Director of CDF Ohio and Kelly is a Senior Health Policy Associate. Dan, Kelly, and Tracy discuss the Ohio Biennial Budget, current legislation regarding doula services in Ohio, and the potential impacts on women’s and children’s health in the state.

This is a particularly timely episode, as the budget is currently being negotiated and House Bill 142, the first bill regarding doula services, education, and certification in Ohio is currently under committee.
